5 Christmas Adventures To Experience This Winter In Chicago

1.) Christkindl Market (Chicago)

Christkindl is a beautiful Christmas market held every year at Daley Plaza in Downtown Chicago and it has become the largest Christmas Market in the United States. It is famous for having a nativity scene, entertainment, baked goodies, food, hot chocolate and Christmas ornaments sold by German, Ukrainian and Austrian vendors.

2.) Christkindl Market (Oak Brook)

If you can't make it to the city, no worries! Oak Brook Mall has a mini version of the Christkindl Market in the indoor/outdoor Oak Brook Mall. They have a smaller scale version of all the great things the Chicago Market has like; the famous wooden shops, pictures with Santa, vendors selling food, hot chocolate and Christmas decorations and live entertainment.

3.) See the new “Nutcracker”

From December 10th - 30th you can see the Joffrey Ballet's "Nutcracker" at the Chicago theatre. The famous Joffrey version and choreography, which has been one of the number on Christmas Traditions in Chicago since 1987, has retired and there is now the new reinvention of the show contains an all new production and new choreography from Christopher Wheeldon. It's definitely worth seeing the new production.

4.) Walk down the Magnificent Mile

The Magnificent Mile, running from the Chicago River to Oak Street has so many stores, food/beverage shops and fun activities to do all year round but it is especially beautiful at Christmas time! Even if you don't want to partake in all the adventure the Mag Mile has to offer, just a simple walk down the strip at night time, looking at all the beautiful lights, while you sip a warm cup of hot chocolate is a treat!

5.) Ice Skating At Millennium Park

Millennium Park is beautiful in itself! With the beautiful view of the Chicago skyscrapers and all their lights, plus the view of all the beautiful Christmas lights throughout the park and the city streets - it's absolutely breathtaking. Another fun, winter themed activity you can partake in at Millennium Park is going ice skating on the giant ice rink the city of Chicago creates near the giant bean every year.
